Eminence of Conservation of Fuels. Why are they to be hoard?

Updated: Jan 30, 2022

Edwin Drake drilled the first successful well through rock and produced crude oil in 1859 at Titusville. This first petroleum well soared up to high demand of fuels, making oil one of the most sought out commodities in America. Moments later, the breakthrough smeared all across the globe, making petroleum an efficacious element.

Petroleum's steady appetite was due to its content use. Being a Fossil Fuel, the decomposition of large quantities of organic matter beneath sedimentary rocks, subjected to intense heat and pressure, leads to its creation. Quotidian fuels like diesel, oil, gasoline, kerosene, LPG and CNG are extracted from the substance, to add another reason for its high demand. The economic importance of petroleum is also well established. The systems for extracting and transporting them are developed, and the fossil fuel industry employs millions of workers. The economies of most countries depend on it. Unfortunately, this rapid imposition enhanced the scarcity of the resource, even though the supply of fuels is finite, and the pollution from burning them is pernicious. Awareness for the conservation of fuels is burgeoning; it is not subtle enough to meet the requirements to apt in people's psyche.

United Nations states that if the current trend of fossil fuels is maintained and energy demand nearly doubles by 2050, emissions will exceed the amount of possible carbon emission. At that level of emissions, there would be a catastrophic climate consequence for the planet. Also, it will be necessary to include the expansion of the use of Carbon, and the technology is expected to result in a 16 per cent reduction in annual emissions by 2050. Estimations say that limiting energy sector emissions without carbon emission would increase the cost of climate mitigation by 138 per cent.

The choices we make and the lifestyles we live have a profound impact on our planet. The raw nature of petroleum is destitute for human requirements. They are inapt for energy generation and are often first converted in a usable format, where excessive waste requires disposal. Oil and gas wastewater impacts aquatic wildlife. Oil and grease leaked into water systems can adhere to fish and waterfowl and destroy algae, disrupting the primary food sources of fragile marine ecosystems. Coal is another dirty fuel because it contains copious toxic heavy metals and other chemicals. Combustion of coal leads to the creation of coal ash. It embraces large amounts of toxic heavy metals and requires careful and costly disposal.

Burning coal, oil, and natural gas have grave and long-standing negative impacts on public health, local communities and ecosystems, and the global climate. Yet the lions share of fossil fuel impacts is far removed from the fuels and electricity we purchase, hidden within public and private health expenditures, military budgets, emergency relief funds, and the degradation of sensitive ecosystems. In some countries, having access to oil can lead the government to be less democratic, a situation nicknamed a Petro-dictatorship. Russia, Nigeria, and Iran have all been accused of having petro-authoritarian regimes. Above and beyond, these stratagems have outstretched their influences over India.

Protection of fossil fuels is cardinal for its presence in future. There are numerous ways by which we squander them, and these methods could be unmade by one's own will. Every time we drive a vehicle, we consume fuels. Rather, we shall consider public transport for less consumption of the propellants. And if driving the vehicle is the only option, make it as energy-efficient as possible. Replacing an older vehicle with a more fuel-efficient car is an investment that saves on fossil fuel usage. The use of alternative energy is also a great intention. Alternative, renewable energy sources, such as wind and solar power, eliminate the pollution that accompanies fossil fuel energy. Alternative energy also reduces the reliance on limited fossil fuels. Energy-efficient appliances with the Energy Star label help reduce the electricity you consume. Shutting off lights and electronics when not in use, adjusting your thermostat by a few degrees and keeping your heating and cooling systems maintained also help conserve energy at home. We all shall recognize our need for making Earth a solace planet. Purveying out the intention of preserving fuel is our responsibility. We are Gaea's assets and must make sure not to be a liability. And henceforth, we must retain our resources for a congenial future of Earth and upcoming cohort.
